Undergraduate Celebrations
Undergraduates receiving special recognition this year were psychology major Simisola Tomi Sodimu and Human Services & Social Justice major Danielle Ciaurro, the recipients of Alumni Association Prizes for undergraduate accomplishments. In addition, Associate Professor of Anthropology Brenda Bradley received the Columbian Prize for teaching and mentoring advanced undergraduate students, and Associate Professors of Political Science John Sides and Danny Hayes shared the Robert W. Kenny Prize for innovation in teaching of introductory courses.
12:00 P.M. Ceremony
Attending the Noon ceremony were students majoring in economics, human services & social justice, journalism & mass communication, political communication, political Science, psychology and sociology. Speakers were Distinguished Scholar recipient and political science major Daniel Lyng and Associate Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience Sarah Shomstein.
03:30 P.M. Ceremony
Attending the 3:30 ceremony were students majoring in Africana studies, American studies, anthropology, Arabic studies, archaeology, art history, biological anthropology, biological sciences, chemistry, Chinese, classical studies, communication, creative writing, fine arts, design, dance, dramatic literature, English, environmental studies, French, geography, geological sciences, German, history, interior architecture, Japanese, Judaic studies, mathematics, music, organizational sciences, philosophy, physics, biophysics, religion, peace studies, Russian, Spanish & Latin American languages, literatures & cultures, special interdisciplinary majors, speech, language & hearing sciences, statistics, theatre, women's, gender & sexuality studies and general studies. Speakers were chemistry major and Distinguished Scholar recipient Jacqueline Dyer and Associate Professor of English Antonio López.
Graduate Celebrations
Master's Ceremony
Speakers at the Celebration for students receiving master’s degrees were museum studies graduate student and Distinguished Scholar recipient Kelly Harro and Associate Professor of Sociology Ivy Ken. Assistant Professor of Geography Dmitry Streletskiy received the Award for Excellence in Graduate Faculty Mentoring.
Doctoral Hooding
In the Doctoral Hooding ceremony, doctoral graduates were recognized and hooded.
