CCAS DEI Awards

The CCAS DEI Awards recognize the contributions of students, staff, and faculty members who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to these values. The CCAS DEI Faculty Award was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Cynthia Deitch, a dedicated trailblazer in the Women's Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program who championed DEI, we have expanded this to recognize faculty, staff, and students. Nominees must provide specific examples of their commitment to DEI through their research, publications, presentations, community service, campus engagement, and leadership roles. By nominating individuals who embody the principles of DEI, we can create a more equitable and inclusive community in the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. We encourage all members of the CCAS community to consider nominating deserving individuals who have made a significant impact in promoting DEI values.

To be considered for the award, nominees must illustrate their commitment to DEI through specific examples, such as:

  • Scholarship: Nominees can showcase their commitment to DEI through their research, publications, and presentations on diverse topics. For instance, they can demonstrate how they have contributed to advancing the understanding of underrepresented communities in their field of study.
  • Community Service/Engagement: Nominees can also demonstrate their commitment to DEI through their community service and engagement activities. They can highlight how they have worked to create a more equitable and inclusive community, such as through their involvement with non-profit organizations that serve marginalized communities.
  • Campus Engagement: Nominees can also showcase their commitment to DEI through their involvement with campus programs and organizations. They can illustrate how they have taken leadership roles in promoting diversity and inclusion on campus, such as through their involvement with student organizations that advocate for marginalized communities.
  • Leadership in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: Finally, nominees can demonstrate their commitment to DEI through their leadership in championing these values in their roles. They can highlight how they have created a more inclusive environment in their workplace or academic setting, such as through their efforts to improve policies and practices that promote equity and inclusion.

We encourage all members of the CCAS community to nominate deserving individuals who embody the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
