Mayeesha Azam

Hello, my name is Mayeesha Azam, and I am an international student pursuing a Master's in English in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at the George Washington University. My academic interests lie in Literary Criticism, with a focus on Postcolonial Studies, which allows me to explore how race, colonization, culture, identity, and power influence our world today. Meanwhile, my experience includes roles as a Resource Teacher and Digital Marketing Intern, along with volunteering experiences with leadership organizations like AIESEC and women empowerment organizations such as Zonta Club. I look forward to using these experiences in my career as an English professor eventually, where I can continue making a meaningful difference, especially in the lives of students, so that it contributes to the betterment of society. Outside of academics, I am a proud geek who loves video games such as Pokemon and Legend of Zelda. I also like going to the gym, and recently, I've discovered a new passion for ballroom dancing.
