Two Corcoran photojournalists were among the 2022 Pulitzer Prize winners for their coverage of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Astrid Riecken (Photojournalism) won as part of The Washington Post’s multimedia team coverage. Sam Corum, BFA '12, (Photojournalism) was recognized for his breaking-news photography with Getty Images.

Lisa Bowleg (Psychology) received a T32 award from the National Institute of Mental Health.

Steven Brady (History) authored the book Chained to History: Slavery and US Relations to 1865 (Cornell University Press, 2022).

Tyree Brown, AA ’18, (Fine Arts) was featured in a video by Mercer Government, discussing her experience as a quadriplegic artist.

Ashley Callahan, MA ’98, (History of Decorative Arts) wrote the book Frankie Welch's Americana: Fashion, Scarves, and Politics (University of Georgia Press, 2022).

Larry Cook, MFA ‘13, (Fine Arts) was featured in an exhibition at the Mississippi Museum of Art titled “A Movement in Every Direction: Legacy of the Great Migration.”

Senior Jennifer Cuyuch (Political Communication) won the “Most Compelling Character” award at the 2022 Planet Forward Storyfest.  

Junior Justin Grady (Psychology) received several awards for his research titled “Conscientiousness protects visual search performance from the impact of fatigue”: the Federation of Associations of Behavioral and Brain Sciences Undergraduate Research Excellence Award; the Vision Science Society Student Travel Award; a Luther Rice Fellowship; and a GW Research Showcase Presentation prize. 

Lizzie Grover Rad, BFA ’14, (Interior Design) was featured in a Vogue article describing her designs and products.

Maren Henson (Fine Arts) is a finalist for the 2022 Sondheim Art Prize.

Michael C. Johnston, BFA ’85, published the article “Your Camera Roll Contains a Masterpiece” in The New Yorker.

Loren Kajikawa (Music) co-authored the essay “After the Sheng Fiasco, Music and Arts Education Can No Longer Profess Colorblindness” in Musicology Now, the digital publication of the American Musicological Society.

Yahia Lababidi, BA ’96, (English) published the book LEARNING TO PRAY: a Book of Longing (Kelsay Books, 2021).

Josh Lasky, MA ’09, (Public Administration) was named director of the George Washington University Office of Sustainability.

Jess Makler, BA ’22, (Journalism, Music) released the album Bravo Zulu.

Sophomore Jaida Rogers (Music) was selected as a Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic civic fellow.

Cristin Sethi (Art History) organized an exhibit titled “Handmade: Creating Textiles in South Asia” at the GW Textile Museum. 

Pat Sheridan, BFA ’99, established the Patrick Q. Sheridan ‘99 Endowed Scholarship for undergraduate students in the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.
