Roxanne Cen

Hello! My name is Jiawei (Roxanne) Cen and I am a graduate student in the Art Therapy M.A. program at the George Washington University. I am from Beijing, China and have studied in the United States for 7 years, including 4 years at the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, where I completed a Bachelor’s of Arts in Art and a Bachelor’s of Science in Statistics. My working experiences with children lead me to my interest in child human development and the actual practice of art therapy. I chose to attend GW because of the hands-on experience that the Art Therapy program provides is essential for my future career. The GW Art Therapy program is one of the earliest programs in the US, and the program provides great resources for professional learning and career opportunities. As a part of the Graduate Student team, I am enthusiastic about helping prospective students better understand college-wide information as well as helping them navigate living in the DMV area. It is my first time living in DMV area, and I enjoy attending a variety of events on campus and in DC. I am also an artist with a love of exploring different kinds of art materials and of going to museums. As an international student at GW, I feel welcome to the community and am hoping to give back through my work.
