The George Washington University Chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) was named a 2022-2023 Distinguished Chapter by the SPS National Council.

Nakeya Brown, MFA ’17, (Fine Arts) was featured in the Winter 2023 “Desire” issue of Aperture magazine.

Christopher L. Cahill (Chemistry) was awarded the 2023 Hillebrand Prize, the Chemical Society of Washington’s highest honor.

Tien Huynh, BS ’23, (Biology, Cognitive Neuroscience) published the research article “The nematode parasite Steinernema hermaphroditum is pathogenic to Drosophila melanogaster larvae without activating their immune response” in microPublication Biology. Co-authors included Biology Professors Damien O'Halloran and Ioannis Eleftherianos.

Bibiana Obler (Art History) contributed to the book Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction (University of Chicago Press, 2023).

Laura Schiavo (Museum Studies) published the book U.S. Museum Histories and the Politics of Interpretation (Routledge, 2023).

Cathy Taister, BA ’91, (Dance) debuted a national virtual dance festival called CatNat Dance Films.

Elizabeth Vaquera (Sociology, Public Policy & Public Administration) received a $35,000 grant from the Miami Foundation for studies on increasing evidence-based policymaking by improving access to culturally informed, empirical research.

Gregory Wallace (Speech & Hearing) was awarded a $53,416 grant from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to study the practical life skills and quality-of-life among autistic teens and young adults.

George Younes (Physics) was awarded a $20,000 contract from the NASA-Jet Propulsion Laboratory for observing the broad-band x-ray evolution of a radio-loud magnetar.

Xiaoke Zhang (Statistics) received a $18,400 award from the National Science Foundation for a conference on statistics in the age of AI.
