We are committed to the Women’s Studies Program, a critical component of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. Over the past five years, CCAS has added more than 50 full-time tenure and tenure-track faculty members, including several who have expertise in women's, gender and sexuality studies. Our goal is to have more courses taught by full-time faculty, which will reduce our reliance on part-time faculty. A review of the Women’s Studies Program by a diverse committee with members whose research and/or teaching address issues in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies the college to focus on expanding the number of courses in Women’s Studies taught by full-time faculty. As such, two regular part-time faculty in Women’s Studies will not be teaching courses next academic year. This action also reflects the college’s ongoing efforts, in the wake of budgetary pressures, to determine the best allocation of resources in support of our academic mission as a college dedicated to rigorous scholarship and engagement.
