Hi! I’m Ruth Akor, fondly called “Dinma” shortened from my middle name Chidinma. I am an Igbo girl from Nigeria. I am currently in my third semester at GWU pursuing a Masters degree in Applied Economics combined with the graduate certificate in Data Science. I had my Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan Nigeria, after which I completed the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps in Nigeria, then worked for over a year at the Ministry of Finance before moving to DC for grad school. I love adventuring and I take pictures/selfies almost every day. I enjoy meeting people, learning about different cultures and having great conversations.

"My time at GWU has been exciting. I love the fact that there are so many events on campus at different times throughout the semester to help students get rid of stress and enjoy schoolwork. My professors are super friendly, accessible and responsive. The Applied Economics programme has been so practical and interesting; from the real-life applications to the challenging projects that keep me on my toes. It has really been an interesting grad school experience."
