GW Corcoran School of the Arts & Design

An incubator for artists and practitioners in arts-related fields, the GW Corcoran School of the Arts and Design bridges creative expression and practical application with the breadth and depth of a larger liberal arts education.

Welcome to the Arts at GW!

The vibrant cultural communities of Washington, D.C., integrated with GW’s top-tier art events and academics, make the university one of the most stimulating places to learn, listen, watch and engage in creative scholarship. World-class museums, galleries, archives and performing arts venues surround campus, giving students access and internship opportunities to develop their artistic ambitions.

On campus, students explore a variety of creative disciplines, including courses in Dance, Fine Arts & Art History, Interior Architecture & Design, Museum Studies, Music and Theater. In addition, the new Corcoran School of the Arts & Design provides a range of innovative degrees like Exhibition Design, Graphic Design and Photography.

Beyond the classroom, the entire community shares in the exhibits and programs at GW's galleries and performance stages. The university partners with local organizations like the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, an arts-focused high school, to provide a venue for student showcases and nurture future generations of artists.
