Art Therapy: Healing Through Imagery

For many veterans and others who have faced trauma, the struggle with issues of loss, grief and transitioning to changed lives can be overwhelming, and sometimes result in depression, substance abuse, even suicide.

In a video conversation with Columbian College Dean Ben Vinson, Assistant Professor of Art Therapy Heidi Bardot advocates using art therapy as an innovative method for breaking that tragic cycle. Bardot, who is also the director of Columbian College’s Art Therapy Program, explains how art therapy has shown promise in helping individuals cope with the repercussions of trauma.
