Advising for Declared Majors

Advising for Declared Majors

Students must declare a major  in their fourth semester, before registering for their fifth semester. To declare a major, students must complete a Declaration of Major form with a faculty member in the academic department of the major. At this meeting, students will review the major requirements and devise a tentative course of study to complete the major. As departmental advisors are subject matter experts, they are able to tailor the student’s interest to the requirements of the major. Additionally, as mentors, role models, career counselors, writers of recommendation letters, and sources of information on graduate and professional studies, departmental advisors respond to many needs of students entering their academic fields.
