This interdepartmental program focuses on analytical tools needed to examine systematically and critically the philosophical foundations of policymaking. Basic assumptions about knowledge, values and norms, and individuals as well as institutions are explored. Students may choose to build their course of study around a particular area of concentration, reflecting their own policy interests. Examples of some possible areas of concentration include: Bioethics and Health Policy, Urban and Welfare Policy, and Environmental Philosophy and Policy. The program leads to a Master of Arts in the field of public policy with a concentration in philosophy and social policy. |
