The Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology & Tropical Medicine, and Computer Sciences at the George Washington University, and The Institute for Genomic Research together with The Children's National Medical Center have established an exciting degree program in the areas of functional genomics which provides a basic understanding of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics.

The new cooperative M.S. Degree in Genomics and Bioinformatics is the first in the U.S. devoted exclusively to important genome-wide approaches to medicine and biology.

The student may choose from either a Biology or Computer Science focused track. Each track offers the option of preparing a final thesis by completing research at GWUMC, Children's National Medical Center, or at The Institute for Genomic Research.
